The Armoury's Mark Cho talks about developing our latest casual jacket.

We introduced the City Hunter as the first thing we grab when on the move, with its many pockets being perfect for frequent travelers. Our new Arthur's Standard was created in the same vein. We based the jacket on a style worn by mid-century jazz legend, Miles Davis. The term "standard" is often used to refer to a well-known song that people know and love, like “Take the A Train” or “Autumn Leaves.” We decided to call this Arthur's Standard, after our Armoury lion Arthur and in reference to one of our favorite jazz clubs in New York City, Arthur’s Tavern.

The Arthur's Standard is partly based on a vintage workwear piece from the 50's. We updated parts of the design, in particular the proportion. Staying true to archival details, we kept the belt style stitching through the front of the jacket and used lapped seams, a popular detail found on many mid-century sport coats.

We partnered with a Japanese mill that specializes in knitted jersey fabric, so there is a slight stretch to the jacket. With modern construction and a natural give of the jersey fabric, our Arthur's Standard makes for the perfect comfortable, casual jacket.
