The Armoury name has found a new home on the vitreous enamel dials of Anordain's handmade timepieces.
The small workshop is named after Loch an Ordain, a remote feature in the Scottish Highlands. Anordain's small team creates mechanical watches and specialises in enamel dials from Glasgow, Scotland.
The vitreous enamel dial, is created through a 12 hour process that begins with a hand-cut disc of a copper. Lump-form enamel (silica, red lead and soda ash) is ground into powder and applied to the copper disc before being placed into a kiln heated to 1,526°F. After it’s removed and cooled, the face is examined for inclusions, bubbles or any other imperfections. The process is repeated several times until the optimum depth of color and height is achieved.
The clean, modern hands of the Model 1 finished with another age-old precision technique, steel blueing. Each hand is cut out of a sheet of steel and hand polished. Heat is then applied to give the hands their color. Timing, practice and precision are key here as the margin for error is extremely small.
Our exclusive watches are housed inside a 38mm stainless steel case with custom engraved maps of our two home cities. Watches sold online or in our New York shops feature a map of Manhattan.
Besides our range of dial colors, our Andorain watches have multiple strap options: cordovan, suede or the steel bracelet. Please specify your own strap by sending us a note at nyc@thearmoury.com.
