Antonio Liverano is a figure of historic proportions in the world of tailoring and one of the few masters of the Florentine tailoring style. Director, Gianluca Migliarotti, captures the life and work of this master in I Colori di Antonio or ‘Antonio’s Colors’.
“We feel the truth behind the adage that ‘the style is the man’, because we come to understand that in order to create these works of great artistry in cloth, the man who makes them must have that beauty within him. We see all that in this film, we see all that in Antonio Liverano.”
― G. Bruce Boyer
Antonio Liverano’s work is an exceedingly rare mixture of technical skill and individual style. His suits are the product of incredible dedication and an eclectic personality. The documentary captures the many facets of Antonio’s unusual life, tracing his origins and following him through his workroom to customers in Asia. He also discusses his aesthetic and introduces the characters in his curious universe as the Liverano name evolves from a pair of brothers into the House of Liverano.
In June 2020, Gianluca Migliarotti and Mark Cho discussed making the documentary, I Colori di Antonio. We captured the event which you can rewatch on The Armoury TV.
