Drake's

Purveyors of fine silk

Founded in 1977 by Michael Drake, Jeremy Hull and Isabel Dickson, the original Drakes collection was comprised of high-quality men’s scarves. A range of English handmade ties and printed silk handkerchiefs quickly followed, and today Drakes is the largest independent producer of handmade ties in England. Drake’s ties continue to be entirely handmade in the heart of London, created from only the highest quality silks to ensure a unique and personal product.

The Drake’s style, beginning with a refined English discrimination, has evolved with a touch of consummate French chic and a nod to the Italians for their abundant sense of style and colour.

This aesthetic represents a vision of how English style is perceived to be, rather than the reality which today is all too often less inspiring. Over the years the company has won prestigious accolades for design and export achievement, including the Queen's Award for Export and the UK Fashion Export Gold Award for Outstanding Export Achievement.

Michael Hill, formerly Michael Drake’s protégé, now acts as the company’s managing director overseeing the gradual expansion of the Drake’s product portfolio and ensuring Drake’s continues to produce elegant and distinctive designs.

As for those who guessed the crests and motifs in yesterday’s post  correctly, I award thee with 1 bonus point. If you collect “several” bonus points, you could win a “prize”.

Bonus points for anyone who recognizes the motif and crest on the ties

Simple yet not simple - Drake’s Untipped Woven Grenadines, a mix of silk and linen. A slightly unusual shade of magenta with a navy base underneath it. And that texture …
