Type A-1 Real McCoy MFG. Co.USD 2,110
The Type A-1 flight jacket was issued to USAAC (United States Army Air Corps) pilots in 1927 and was eventually replaced by the Type A-2 flight jacket by the early 1930s. Original A-1 flight jackets were made of capeskin, but during the transition from Type A-1 to A-2, there were many different types of leather used. The Type A-1 Real McCoy MFG. Co. is a take on this rare 1920s classic, using vegetable tanned horsehide (pigment finished) from the Shinki Tannery in Himeji, Japan.

The Real McCoy’s have partnered with us on special projects before but this time we’re excited to host them at our Westbury Shop-in-Shop. The Real McCoy’s take inspiration from vintage Americana, going to extraordinary lengths to recreate the materials and manufacturing methods from the 1940s and 50s. Each piece is not only well crafted but also historically accurate.
