"One of the ways we make ready-to-wear clothes feel more bespoke is by paying attention to the areas that other manufacturers typically ignore.” says Hidetoshi Sasamoto-san, Sales Manager for Ring Jacket.
“For example, we add more shape and fabric in areas like the sleeve heads and shoulders. This makes the shoulder area rounder and easier to move. We also do small adjustments, like offsetting the seam by two centimeters in the shoulder area. By making this little maneuver, it allows the fabric in the arm area to move and adjust with the wearer, with very little resistance.”
Our first step into custom tailoring is our made-to-order program. Here you can choose from countless fabric swatches, using any of our Armoury models, adjust the length and even choose the details, such as adding side-adjusters and pocket styles. This service is available year round at any of our shops.
The highest level of customization within The Armoury by Ring Jacket tailoring is our made-to-measure (MTM) program. Here you are fitted by Yuzuru Tani-san, Ring Jacket's Head of Paper Patterns, who is able to very slight adjustment according to individual postures, dropped shoulders, etc. MTM garments are also made with a higher level of hand finishing, including hand-sewn buttonholes and bar tacks. This service is only available during our joint trunk shows with Ring Jacket biannually.
The Ring Jacket team always brings along swatches from their extensive archives of vintage and dead-stock fabrics, which can be commissioned exclusively during trunk shows.
The benefit of made-to-measure is better felt than seen. You can really feel when a jacket's sleeve has been rotated to the angle your arm naturally lies or the way the jacket hugs your shoulders even when one is slightly lower than the other.
